DHI HAIR TRANSPLANTATION

DHI method

DHI hair transplantation is a technique that stands for Direct Hair Implantation. It is performed using a special device called Choi Pen. This technique reduces the time the grafts spend outside the body by creating channels and planting the grafts at the same time, thus increasing survival rates.

Basic Steps of DHI Hair Transplantation

    1. Donor Area Preparation and Graft Harvesting: Just like FUE Sapphire, grafts are collected from the donor area, usually the back of the head. Each graft is individually removed using a micromotor. These grafts, which contain 1-4 hair follicles, are kept in a special solution to preserve their vitality until transplantation.
    2. Implantation with Choi Pen: Unlike FUE Sapphire, the DHI technique uses a Choi Pen to create recipient channels and implant grafts simultaneously. This reduces the time the grafts spend outside the body, increases survival rates, and minimizes the risk of damaging neighboring hair follicles.

The DHI technique is especially advantageous for people with sparse hair loss because it offers more precise transplantation, minimizes trauma to the scalp and prevents damage to existing hair follicles.

Travel Plan

The day begins with a full medical examination. Patients are given a full briefing on the process, how it will proceed and what to expect during the operation. The operation is performed under local anesthesia and takes between 6 and 8 hours. After the operation, a final check is performed, post-operative instructions are shared and the patient is discharged.

The day after the surgery is the day of the first wash and control of the transplanted hair. The medical team will show you how to wash your hair properly. You should follow the same washing procedure with a special lotion provided by the clinic until the 11th day.

By day 11, crusts or scabs will have formed in the transplanted area. This is a normal part of the healing process. After day 11, these crusts should be cleaned as recommended by the clinic. Once all the crusts have been cleaned, you can continue to shower normally without high-pressure water.

SSS

DHI hair transplantation procedure takes approximately 6-8 hours.

The transplanted hair will fall out within the first month, this is known as “shock loss” and is a normal part of the process. New hair will start to grow 3-4 months after surgery and will be fully grown after about a year.

If you work in an office or other non-physically demanding environment, you can usually return to work within a few days. However, avoid wearing a hat, helmet, or anything else that could touch the implanted area.

Since the transplanted hair is taken from your donor area, which is genetically resistant to hair loss, the transplanted hair usually does not fall out. However, the original hair in the transplanted area may continue to thin and fall out over time.

No. The surgery will be performed under local anesthesia. You will not feel any pain during the surgery.

You should follow the instructions given by your specialist. Avoid scratching or rubbing the area, protect your scalp from sunlight, and stay away from places like saunas, steam rooms, and swimming pools to minimise the risk of infection.

There is no harm in cutting the hair in the donor area at least 3 months after the hair transplantation procedure. There is no harm in cutting the hair in the transplanted area approximately 6 months later.

Yes. You can cut your hair and dye your new hair. The best time to dye your hair will be 1 year after the operation.
